Do As I Say, Not As I Do

Many of our Republican supporters are not happy because we are spending money like a drunken sailor. ~ John McCain
To compare Republicans to "drunken sailors" is to insult the far superior financial prudence of inebriated servicemembers around the world. This latest speech just echoes his own words from years past. But, he is just flapping his gums.

Project Vote Smart lists 25 appropriations votes in the Senate in 2005. McCain voted yes on 17 (68%), no on 5 (20%), and missed the votes on three. Three of the nos were procedural; he voted to spend the money, just not waive the rules first. McCain's answers to the National Political Awareness survey shows a man who likes spending money.

McCain talks a good game, but he Slings the Flowing Bowl as greedily as the rest of them.
