Republican Ying and Yang

I am amused by the differing reactions among Republicans to Arlen Specter's switch to the Democratic party.

On one hand, I'll call them the Rationalists, there are Republicans who are dismayed by how this came to be. They are frightened that the Party of Reagan is quickly shrinking to Whig Party status. They are not so much angry at Specter as pitying him.

Then there is the other hand, the Radicals. They smell blood in the water and want more. They are enraged, the word traitor is getting bandied about. They see Specter's move as an opportunity to kick out all of the impure, the RINOs - Snowe, Collins, McCain, Lindsey Graham, and more. The list seems almost as long as the Republican Senate register.

'Tis fun to watch.

Snowe seems to be the only sane voice over there. I give her 6 months to a year to jump ship herself when she realizes that no one in her party wants to hear her warning.
